Thanks for the thoughts! I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that we see schools as this big complicated thing and think that our own teaching should be complicated as well. My kids are still pretty young (1 and 3), so I’m still easily sucked into the worry of meeting milestones. Before your last podcast (#9), my 3 year old had no interest in letters or words or sounds. Since then, he has exploded with interest in letters, sounds, and words. He now knows almost all his letters and some sounds. He even knows that letters make words. Seeing that explosion of interest and knowledge makes unschooling a lot more real for me.
